About
Susan McMakin opened Couture Cakes of Greenville in August 2005 and has run the bakery from its Miller Road studio near Woodruff Road ever since. The shop makes wedding cakes, groom's cakes, birthday cakes, and cupcakes for showers and corporate events.
The bakery's most-ordered wedding size is a three-tier buttercream cake serving about 130 guests, which starts around $850 to $950 plus delivery and tax. A smaller two-tier cake paired with an assorted cupcake spread, serving 35 to 40 guests, starts at $325, with cupcakes alone from $35 a dozen. Florals are billed separately, though the shop can add sugar flowers for an additional charge. Couples can order a tasting box or schedule an in-person tasting before booking.
Couture Cakes asks for a signed retainer to hold a wedding date and recommends booking six to eight months out, longer for dates between May and November. Gluten-free cake is available on request, but the kitchen is not a nut-free or fully gluten-free facility, so allergy accommodations are worked out case by case.
