Hopsewee Plantation

Hopsewee sits on the North Santee River south of Georgetown, on the grounds of a colonial rice plantation. Ceremonies are held outdoors under live oaks hung with Spanish moss, with the river behind them, and the house and its cottage carry the rest of the day.

Two routes are published. The Classic Wedding Celebration runs three or five hours and covers rehearsal access to the grounds, the ceremony and reception, parking, a two-hour portrait session, a bridal dressing area, catering space and tables, linens and chairs, with tenting and a dance floor available. Couples bring their own officiant, photographer, flowers, cake, music and decoration.

The alternative is a micro wedding starting at $850 for a two-hour ceremony and light reception, which includes an arch, cake, beverages, a champagne toast and a licensed officiant. For a couple wanting a historic-property wedding without a full production, that is an unusually complete package at that number.

The River Oak Cottage seats up to 60 for dinner indoors, with more accommodated outdoors on the grounds. In-house catering runs from brunch through dinner stations, with china and flatware included in every food option.
