The Southern Way

The Southern Way has catered events out of Columbia since founder Jimmy Stevenson started the company in 1982; it now also runs a second location in Greer serving the Upstate. The Columbia team works from a fully-equipped mobile kitchen and has handled events ranging from 8 to 8,000 guests, including catering for South Carolina governors and visiting U.S. presidents.

The company is the exclusive caterer at several Midlands venues, including Millstone at Adams Pond and Wavering Place, and offers passed hors d'oeuvres, chef carving stations, seafood bars, buffet meals and seated served meals built around Southern dishes such as shrimp and grits, benne seed wafers with pimento cheese, and bourbon brown sugar-glazed heirloom carrots. A published menu guide runs to more than 20 pages of course-by-course options for cold and hot hors d'oeuvres, entrees, starches, vegetables and desserts.

The Southern Way is based at 100 East Exchange Boulevard in Columbia. It does not publish per-person or package pricing on its site; couples request a custom quote through the Columbia office at 803-783-1061.
