The Marriage Notary

Jack Heape operates The Marriage Notary as a South Carolina notary public appointed by the Secretary of State and an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church. Two additional notaries, Anna Baker and Susan Scaccia, round out the team. Heape has personally officiated more than 4,000 ceremonies, from two-person elopements to venue weddings with 200 guests.

Every ceremony includes a custom-written script and personalized vows at no added charge, and Heape files the signed marriage license after the ceremony concludes. Couples who only need the legal paperwork handled can book a sign-and-go marriage license signing without a formal ceremony.

The business is based in Columbia and works throughout Irmo, Cayce, Lexington, West Columbia, and Camden, with published pricing starting at $90 for a basic ceremony in the Columbia/Lexington area and $175 for a large venue wedding. The team also travels to Rock Hill, Aiken, Florence, Orangeburg, Sumter, and Charleston at higher rates, and as far as Greenville and Spartanburg upstate.
