Deas-Guyz

Deas-Guyz formed in January 2000 as Nu World Beat before settling into the lineup that plays Hilton Head Island today. Vocalist Reggie Deas fronts a six-piece group that includes keyboardist Martin Lesch, drummer Chris Russell, bassist Tyrone Mack, saxophonist Greg Whittaker, and conga player and vocalist Corey Burgess, several of whom have played together for more than a decade.

The band's book runs through Motown, rhythm and blues, pop, rock, reggae and dance music, drawing on the Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and newer dance-floor staples. Deas-Guyz brings its own sound and lighting rig to every show and builds the set list around each crowd. Reception music is the band's specialty, though members also play corporate events, festivals and private parties, and they perform most Sunday nights at the Jazz Corner in the Village at Wexford on Hilton Head.

Based on Hilton Head Island, Deas-Guyz travels for weddings along the South Carolina coast and into Georgia, and has played private events as far as Chicago, Orlando and New York. No pricing is published on the band's site; couples can reach the band directly by phone or email to check availability.
