On Columbia Avenue in Lexington, Raven Salon & Bridal runs as a working salon that also takes bridal parties. Owner Raven has more than twenty years in the industry, and the bridal side sits alongside a full colour and cutting business rather than replacing it.

The practical distinction from a travelling artist is that couples have two options. The team will come to a venue, hotel or house on the morning, or the party can come to the salon, which for a Midlands wedding starting in the afternoon is often the calmer choice: proper chairs, proper lighting, proper basins, and nobody working off a folding table in a hotel bathroom.

The technical range is broader than bridal alone. The salon lists Deva Curl cutting, blonding, smoothing and keratin services and barbering, which matters if a bride wants her curl pattern worked with rather than blown out, or if the wedding party includes people who want a cut in the same week.
