About
Mara Allport founded Sweetleaf Floral in 2018 after leaving a career in public health research, building a team of about 12 designers and assistants from a studio in Hollywood, just south of Charleston. A University of South Carolina graduate raised between Mount Pleasant and Edisto, she now runs the business from Hollywood, where she lives with her husband and two children.
Sweetleaf offers full-service floral design spanning looks the studio describes as timeless Southern romance through sleek, modern elegance. The process starts with a complimentary one-hour consultation and a custom proposal, moves through a final walkthrough about six weeks before the wedding, and ends with on-site setup, complete breakdown, and venue restoration on the event day. Leftover flowers are not discarded: the studio repurposes them through Fun with Flowers arranging classes at senior centers, run in partnership with the MUSC SC Safe Seniors Program, with nearly 50 sessions hosted to date.
Sweetleaf is based in Hollywood, SC and serves Charleston and the surrounding Lowcountry. The studio does not publish a minimum spend or price list; every wedding is quoted through a custom proposal after consultation.
