About

Party Carolina DJs

Radio came first for TJ McKay, who worked as a full-time broadcaster and program director in Texas, Idaho, Ohio, Georgia and South Carolina before founding Party Carolina in Columbia in the late 1980s. The site puts the company at more than 35 years in business and credits it with thousands of weddings, parties, fundraisers and Midlands community events. McKay is an ordained minister and also started Columbia Photo Booths.

At a wedding, a DJ in a tuxedo takes master-of-ceremonies duty, introducing the wedding party, announcing formalities and running the order of the reception. The ceremony gets its own sound system plus a backup, a wireless lapel microphone for the officiant, and wireless mics and stands for readers and singers. The reception rig is specified as two amplifiers, two speakers and multiple music sources. Couples complete online ceremony and reception planners before a required coordination meeting held one to ten days out. Custom lighting, cold sparks, a lighted infinity dance floor, karaoke and photo booths are available alongside the DJ.

Nine DJs are listed on the roster. The company names Columbia, Lexington, Irmo, Chapin, Greenville and Charleston as its service area and describes itself as a Christian owned and operated business. Package pricing sits behind a password on the site, so couples get rates by inquiry.
