About

LightStream Wedding DJ

Three DJs work under the LightStream banner: Mel, who came out of radio more than 30 years ago, John, and Jeff, who started in 1999 after volunteering at the North Augusta Relay for Life. The company puts its audio and video production experience at over 30 years, says it has worked most major venues in the CSRA, and lists political and civic work for a governor, a senator and presidential candidates alongside the weddings.

Planning runs through consultations that set the schedule of events and announcements and build playlists for ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and reception. The music library is given as more than 268,000 songs from the 1940s forward, spanning motown, oldies, disco, country, R&B and soul, line dances and Bollywood. Gear includes wired and wireless microphones, DMX uplights and dance-floor light trees, black lights, lasers, fog machines, projection systems, GOBO monograms and backdrops. One of the DJs, Rev. Mel, is a licensed ordained minister who offers a dozen vow options, rehearsals and counseling.

Rates are posted rather than quoted. Reception DJ starts at $750 for up to four hours with sound, two wireless microphones and DMX lighting matched to the wedding colors, at $100 per extra hour; ceremony music starts at $225, a second sound system for a separate ceremony space is $150, uplighting averages $200 and up, and officiant work starts at $200. The company sponsors the Aiken Bridal Show.
