Salthouse Catering

Salthouse Catering was founded in 2013 by Tanya Gurrieri, a College of Charleston graduate who previously built Caviar & Bananas' catering division, and Chef Todd Mazurek. The company is a preferred caterer at more than 30 Lowcountry venues, including Boone Hall Plantation, Magnolia Plantation, Legare Waring House, the South Carolina Aquarium, Hibernian Hall, the Sandcastle at Kiawah, and The Carolina Girl luxury yacht, and works with roughly 30 Charleston wedding and event planners.

Salthouse offers passed hors d'oeuvres, buffets, food stations, and family-style or plated dinners, and publishes rare detail on cost: passed appetizers run $9–$12 per person, dinner buffets or station-style dinners $35–$55 per person, and family-style or plated dinners $40–$65 per person, with bar service adding $15–$50 per person depending on package and duration. The company says a full-service wedding averages around $120 per person once food, beverages, setup, rentals, labor, delivery, and tax are included, and it adds a 20% service charge on food and beverage totals. For bar service and rentals, Salthouse partners with outside licensed vendors such as Snyder Event Rentals/Spike Bar, Eventworks Rentals, and Curated Events Charleston rather than holding its own liquor license.

Salthouse is based on James Island in Charleston and serves the greater Lowcountry. Mobile kitchen setup for off-site venues runs $1,000–$1,750, and local delivery is an additional $100.
