Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington founded Brookgreen Gardens in 1931, and the property has since grown into a National Historic Landmark of more than 9,000 Lowcountry acres holding one of the country's most significant collections of American figurative sculpture. Weddings here happen inside a working public garden: couples exchange vows beneath the Live Oak Allée, beside Holliday Cottage on the water, or at other sites across the grounds, with an outdoor pavilion and an indoor ballroom available for receptions.
Booking works differently than at a standard venue. Private events are a membership benefit, and a President's Council-level membership is required to reserve a date. Site fees vary by space, guest count, and date rather than following a published package list, and bridal portraits on the grounds are reserved for couples marrying at Brookgreen. Events range from small gatherings to large receptions, and the private events office coordinates directly with each couple on location and logistics.
The gardens sit at 1931 Brookgreen Drive in Murrells Inlet, between Myrtle Beach and Pawleys Island on South Carolina's Hammock Coast, and the private events office handles wedding inquiries at (843) 235-6017.
