About
Bassist Dorian Samuel started Tru Sol in 2004, after a one-off backup-singing gig for another Myrtle Beach performer turned into a group of its own. A 2014 news feature on the band's tenth anniversary described a six-piece lineup fronted by three co-lead vocalists, including Sheryta Spears and Merrell Samuel alongside Samuel.
The band's repertoire spans Motown-era classics and beach music through hip hop, pop, and current R&B, played for weddings, corporate events, and regional festivals including Conway Riverfest, Myrtle Beach's Oktoberfest, and the Blue Crab Festival in Little River. The group has also played The Boathouse, House of Blues, and colleges across the Southeast, including Coastal Carolina University and the University of South Carolina.
Based in Myrtle Beach, Tru Sol travels regularly to Charlotte, Charleston, Raleigh, Savannah, and Atlanta in addition to local Grand Strand dates. No pricing is published on the band's site; booking runs through its own contact page or East Coast Entertainment, which represents the group for some out-of-market dates.
