The Cake Stand Charleston

Lauren Robertson, a Johnson & Wales University graduate in Baking & Pastry Arts, runs The Cake Stand Charleston with her husband Will out of a special-order kitchen with no walk-in storefront. Every order, wedding or otherwise, is booked by appointment, phone, or email.

Cake tastings happen by appointment and cover flavor, filling, and design alongside a full quote built around the couple's colors and decor; couples who cannot make a tasting can arrange a pickup tasting box instead. Each wedding cake is priced individually based on size, design, and flavor rather than a flat menu. Couples building a cupcake display can start planning around cupcakes at $2 each before decoration and flavor upgrades, and cake stands rent for $35. A delivery fee applies and varies with the reception's location. Booking requires a non-refundable deposit and a signed contract, dates go first-come, first-served, and the bakery does not take Sunday weddings.

The Cake Stand also operates The Charleston Shutter Bus, a restored 1967 Volkswagen bus available as a photo booth for rehearsal dinners and receptions. The bakery works from the Charleston area and asks couples to reach out by phone or email to check date availability.
