Alexandra Kowaleski started Spilled Milk Cake Boutique in January 2024 after working in bakery and restaurant kitchens, and she designs and bakes every order herself. The house style is deliberately plain-spoken: clean shapes, soft colour, refined piping, and finishes that stop short of ornate. Couples who want sugar flowers cascading down four tiers are better served elsewhere; couples who want one well-made cake that photographs quietly are the point.

Orders begin with the event rather than a catalogue. Date, guest count, flavour ideas and inspiration go in through the inquiry form, and Alexandra comes back on availability and next steps. Flavours, fillings and frostings are published in advance so couples can narrow the field before they ask, and she uses house-made extracts and locally sourced ingredients rather than pre-mixed bases.

Tastings run two ways, an open house or a private appointment, and cakes are delivered. Beyond weddings she takes birthdays, engagements, bridal showers and baby showers, plus cupcakes and cookies alongside a cake.

Cakes start at $250 and couples typically spend around $1,000, which puts a Spilled Milk cake near the middle of the Charleston market rather than at either end.
