When the owners' daughter got engaged in January 2013 and asked to be married at the family home, the Shumans built a hand-stained cedar pavilion on their 30 acres at the foot of Paris Mountain. She was married that September, another couple booked the following week, and The Hollow has operated as a wedding venue ever since — owner Patty Shuman has hosted more than 140 weddings to date.
Couples rent the property outright and bring in whatever vendors they like. Ceremonies happen on the flagstone patio with its waterfalls as a backdrop, or out in the field framed by the venue's freestanding doors and cross; receptions run under the 35-by-45-foot covered pavilion, which has a built-in sound system and a roll-away A/C unit. Rental includes setup and cleanup, ceremony arches, a dance floor, and two dressing rooms, plus a den and bar area for a small pre-ceremony gathering.
The property holds up to 200 guests and sits on State Park Road, about ten minutes from downtown Greenville. Saturday rentals include Friday access for deliveries, setup, and rehearsal; fall Saturdays book about a year out, while Sunday dates often remain open three to four months ahead.
