About
Marion Square sits directly outside the arched ballroom windows at Hotel Bennett, the luxury hotel that opened at 404 King Street in 2019 and now belongs to the Salamander Collection. Built by native Charlestonians and finished with cypress and copper detailing, local art, and European-inspired architecture, it has been ranked the No. 1 hotel in Charleston by Conde Nast Traveler readers.
The Crown Ballroom is the main event space: 7,137 square feet on the second floor, divisible into four salons, seating 350 for a banquet or holding 500 for a reception. Smaller celebrations spread through the building — the third-floor Piazza takes 50 guests outdoors above King Street, the ninth-floor Observatory hosts rooftop dinners for 60, the pool deck and cabanas handle cocktail parties for about 50, and Camellias, the pink champagne bar off the lobby, seats 30 for bridal showers and afternoon tea. In-house wedding specialists and hotel catering handle planning, menus, and setup, with Gabrielle's upper dining room available for rehearsal dinners of up to 54.
The practical advantage is consolidation: guest rooms and suites on floors three through eight, a spa for the wedding party, and a heated rooftop pool keep a full wedding weekend under one roof in the middle of downtown. Pricing is by custom proposal.
